The MMSI Chicago Show is one of the top-level exhibitions of painted miniature figures in the world and draws model makers and figure painters from Europe, Canada, and Mexico as well as from all across the United States. The show features miniature figures from less than an inch high to over 12 inches tall. These figures represent all historical periods from ancient to modern as well as science fiction and fantasy subjects. The exhibition displays several levels of expertise, from amature painter through professional artist. The figures may be painted from commercially available kits, conversions, or original sculpture.
In addition to the exhibition itself, the show also features:
- An auction of finely painted miniatures beginning at 2:00PM.
- Seminars on creating miniature figures and on historical subjects. These siminars are free and open to the public.
- A vendor area featuring miniature figure kits and painting supplies, as well as military air and memorabilia.
