Gentle jaws as clamps

RELATED TOPICS: DECALS | MODELING TOOLS
I was looking for a way to hold a model so I could apply decals. I have a set of helping hands on my workbench - the kind with alligator clips - and I wanted to use them without ruining the paint. I looked into my soldering accessories and found some large heat-shrink tubing. I cut it about 1 1/4" long and shrank them onto the jaws of the clips. They work perfectly and don't mar or scratch the paint. If you heat it too much and the jaws are too prominent, just add another piece and redo it.
