Waxed paper is great when using super glue: You can put a little pool of the adhesive on it and it won’t stick. Unfortunately, the paper is light and will blow away if you turn on a fan to ventilate your workspace.
I use sheets from a lint-removal roller. They are available at most grocery stores. I carefully remove a clean sheet from the roll, then stick it facedown on the bench. It won’t fly anywhere and super glue won’t soak into it.
